The Advantages of Cold Forming

 

Parch Saz Co. has developed its ability in producing rivets with cold forming (CF) method and has optimized the production of some tools which were produced in the past by expensive and slow ways. CF is a procedure to form metals in high speed and with no shaving. During this method materials move and take form based on the shape of segment. The procedure is possible in ordinary temperature so is called Cold Forming. Today, modern equipments of CF are capable to produce very complex segments rapidly and with high quality. CF has attentionable advantages by comparison with shaving methods and has the possibility to produce strong and cheap segments.

 

Various Designs:

Above figure represents a cold heading (CH) operation with three molds and three ramrods. Although the equipments of CH have been developed during the last years, Parch Saz Co. has provided various equipments to shape materials in different stages. These different stages provide the possibility to produce complex segments by upset or extrude methods. Upset and extrude methods are very sufficient to control and shape raw materials and multi-stage molds facilitate this procedure.

 

 High Production Speed and Monotony:

CF is able to produce 100 times more rapid and accurate than machining methods. Four segments are shaped at once in a four-stage machine and each one are in one stage of production. Each pressing stroke completes one segment and enters another new one into the mold. The procedure is performed with the speed of 100 segments per minute.

 

Tolerance:

The tolerance for the diameter of stairs is available with ±0.05 mm, for the length of stairs with ±0.1 mm and in some cases with at least ±0.05 mm.

 

Reduction of Shavings:

Machining procedure starts with a bar that its diameter is equal with the thickest machined bar. The total form will be shaped by machining the bar until diameters become decreased. This method produces expensive segments and also extra shavings.

Cold heading, on the other hand, starts with a cylinder segment and raw materials take their shape by a series of molds. The procedure forms segments during some stages and with no extra shavings. The volume of total segment is equal with the volume of primary segment.

 

            

 

Strength:

When a segment is being shaved, metal is cut to decrease diameter. Shaving metal disturbs its structure and weakens the segment. One of the advantages of CF is to increase the strength of segments by changing the formation of molecules and no part will be removed by shaving.
